AI Connector
An AI connector is the technical component that links a model or agent to a data source or external service, for example through MCP or an API.
A connector translates the AI's requests into the format expected by the target system, and returns the response in a format the model can use. It can be a native connector provided by a platform or a custom built MCP server.
For a company, having an AI connector to its catalog or knowledge base lets its customers' assistants access up to date information instead of a frozen version indexed by a search engine.
