Alt Attribute

The alt attribute is an image's alternative text, read by screen readers and shown if the image fails to load.

This text describes the image's content in a few precise words, without keyword stuffing. It lets visually impaired people understand a page and lets search engines understand an image they cannot see.

An image without an alt attribute is a missed opportunity: for accessibility, for image search rankings, and for indexing in visual search results.
