Anchor text is the clickable text of a link. Its wording tells readers and search engines what the target page is about.
Descriptive anchor text ('local SEO guide') is more useful than a vague one ('click here'). It gives context before the link is even opened.
Varying anchors, both internal and external, avoids a repetitive pattern that reads as artificial. The goal stays clarity for the user, not mechanical optimization.
